Ms Louise Bennett

Consultant Psychologist

I provide support to individual clients seeking awareness and knowledge in understanding themselves more deeply. I adapt my therapy to the needs of the client and believe a collaborative approach leads to empowerment.

Utilising a humanistic existential approach I provide tools to help my clients cope and manage potential neurosis that may become burdensome in their life. Therapy often includes the exploration of child or adult events and relationships that may create a psychological symptoms and effect how one perceives themselves and the outside world. These symptoms can include; anxiety, depression, self esteem issues, difficulty relating to others, anger, lack of motivation, grief and loss, substance abuse issues, trauma and difficulty coping with change at work or in one's personal life.

The main counselling models I use are Psycho-dynamic psychotherapy (exploration of psyche), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (this can including Mindfulness based strategies or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), Solution-Focuses Therapy (goal directed) and Emotion-Focused Therapy (person centred therapy).

One of my interests is in working with clients who experiencing low self esteem or increased anxiety from workplace pressures. These pressures can include: bullying or harassment, victimisation, redundancy, change at work, change in workplace culture or an increased expectation of one's work performance. I have extensive experience in working within Employee Assistance Programs and within the Industrial movements, and I am passionate about assisting workers become empowered and adaptive to cope with their ever-changing workplaces.
