I work with adults who experience long-term emotional and interpersonal difficulties, such as depression, anxiety and personality disorders. This includes parents who may find it difficult to meet the challenges of parenting as well as addressing their mental health concerns.
I also work with people who have difficulties relating to gender and/or sexuality. My therapeutic style is developmental. I work with people to understand how their difficulties developed over time and how they can initiate change to have a rich and meaningful future.
I practice Schema Therapy and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). However, I tailor my practice to the goals of each person and also draw on techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Solutions-Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy.
I see adults who experience difficulties associated with:
• Managing emotions
• Personality disorders
• Gender and sexuality
• Parenting with a mental illness
I also conduct cognitive assessments, including:
• General intellectual assessment that is required for school funding and diagnosis of intellectual disability
• In depth cognitive assessment based on the most up-to-date research to measure a range of key cognitive and academic abilities. This comprehensive assessment is recommended when assessing for specific learning difficulties.
I am also an AHPRA approved supervisor.
