I work with clients who find it diffi cult to manage strong emotions such as anxiety, sadness and irritability. Many of my clients identify as LGBTQIA+.
My main areas of expertise are with people who are experiencing stress (and “burnout”), relationship concerns, anxiety and depression. I help people to develop resilience, adjust to di fficult life events, manage stress and provide targeted treatments for anxiety, depression and other mood related concerns, self-esteem, trauma, personality concerns and psychosis. I have a special interest in working with anxiety, social anxiety in particular.
My therapeutic style focuses more on the “here and now”, working collaboratively with people towards their personal goals and values. I like to take time to understand a person’s current and past di fficulties and personal strengths, so that I can better assist my clients in moving closer towards their therapeutic goals. Being highly goal focused, I like to measure perceived progress throughout therapy to ensure that we are moving in the client’s desired direction. I use a combination of therapeutic approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) depending on individual needs and goals. Overall, my clients know me as warm, engaging, and compassionate and this compassionate perspective underlies all of my work.
